Keyboard Recommendation for Five Year Old
on: September 19, 2013, 12:53:07 PM
Hi,
Our five year old son just started private piano lessons after a year of group lessons. We are looking to get him a keyboard (88 keys seems to be the best option) as we don't have the space in our NYC apt for a "real" piano. Would anyone be kind enough to recommend some brands/models that would be suitable given his age. Would like to keep it between $250-$500. Thank you.

I'd say get a Yamaha Clavinova.  Yamaha Clavinovas sound decent, and they also have a decent feel.  At the price you mentioned, it'll have to be a basic model and probably used.

Make sure whatever you get has a weighted action so it feels similar to a real piano.

Yamaha Clavinova. You cannot go wrong with that.
