a bunch of "minimalists" like yann tiersen, philip glass were inspired by him.... was chopin a minimalist?

In terms of manners, yes. In terms of concertizing, largely yes.
In every other aspect of his life, including his music, no.

I'm sure a lot of composers draw influence from Chopin's various styles... Waltz/Nocturne form among others for the piano; and sure, Chopin has some very singable melodies. But holy crap his music is complex.
I wonder what they would have classified pieces like his Prelude in a minor Op. 28 as... sounds pretty avant garde compared to the C major and G major that surround it lol.
