Why do these pieces sound like each other?

They also, when playing it/learning it from sheet, seem/feel similar to each other. Not in the sense of each meassure being the exact same thing, but more like the flow/sound/playing of it. Hope that does make sense.

They sound similar probably because of a few things (that I picked up on):

-the accompaniment figures in the LH are pretty similar (and you could probably transfer them from piece to piece)

-the tempi are alike; slow, singing melodic lines

-two are from Naruto, and the other I'm sure fits in the same genre of music

Your ears are not deceiving you lol!  Listen to 4-5 songs that are on the 'pop music charts'.  They generally have a formulaic approach, have the same structure, and make use of 4-5 chords (maybe even a minor chord if they are feeling daring  ;) )

It's generally a genre thing.  I can pick out a Nocturne by Chopin just by hearing the left hand figures (that, and I've listened to them about 1000 times).
Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

Nanabush pretty well said it, in the end they are similar genre of music.

I have a book of 64 pages of Christmas music written in a sort of New Age genre that could easily transition from one piece to the next. In fact I've done it by accident, leaving a sheet up not realizing it. Playing along I thought wait a minute this sounds like that other piece, because it was !!!! I really need to spiral bind this thing.
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.
