Franck - Prelude, Chorale and Fugue
on: November 04, 2013, 02:12:36 AM
Hi there
Those who have played Franck's Prelude, Chorale and Fugue, how did you overcome the hand- crossing in the chorale?
I can't decide between 1) RH taking the melody note after the LH and 2) RH taking the melody note straight from the preceding arpeggiated chord.
Option 1, is stressful; option 2 kinda ruins the gesture and as far as I can tell, it was Franck that indicated LH to take the melody note. I've tried fancy pedaling too - right foot controlling middle and right pedal. Too hard basket! And it still carries the chords too strongly anyway.
How do you approach it?
Thanks!
