just had a not so good lesson...
on: November 11, 2004, 11:01:42 PM
actually most of my lesson went fine, but my concerto (medelssohn gm) didn't go so well: this was the first time that I played it with my teacher playing the orchestra reduction along with me. Most the concerto went all right (although I have to say my teacher needs to practice the orchestra part!), except there were two spots I messed up one while she was playing, and these sections I usually never mess up on when playing by myself.

Is it a memory failure, am I distracted by the other piano part and not paying attention to my playing? I really want to fix this soon as I will be having a recital in a week and 3 day, yikes. How can I eliminate these mistakes that occur only when I'm playing with the "orchestra"? It seems hard to do so when I'm practicing without the orchestra.

Any Tips, please?
Thanks

have your teacher record the orchestra part for you to practice with.

Why don't you try Music Minus One? You can play it over a speaker while you perform.

No.  Its because you have to synchronise your playing with your teacher's so you need to use more brain power.
