Hi! Daren.
Yes. My own! This isn’t a joke - but it isn’t ready yet and I have been working on it for a very long time. The subject is vastly complicated, though I aim to show that each step along the way is small and simple.
I have been a piano teacher all my life and the best thing I can do with the student’s inspiration and enthusiasm is teach him/her to be independent of me and of their own bad habits. I can do this by teaching them how to practise. This is an art and a science. It is learning about habits of thought, using time intelligently, analysing in a difficult passage just why it’s difficult then working out how to solve the problem, how to use repetition intelligently, how to find the patience to go slowly, how to memorize, etc.
Maybe I will write some more in Piano Forum. Maybe you could Email me, or me you. I don’t know how things work in Piano Forum; I haven’t been a
member long enough.
Any questions about anything specific? All the best John
