Finger numbers
on: January 05, 2014, 05:02:19 AM
Should the pieces be played in certain fingering? For example, I am looking at Beethoven's Pathetique sonata Rudhardt Edition sheet music, which is well marked. How much should I stick to it even if I don't agree with some of the fingerings?

Some pieces can have multiple possible fingerings but make sure the fingering that you use leads your hand in the right position for the next motif which will have it's own fingering.

This depends upon how advanced you are. If you are comfortable using fingerings of your own invention, and you can justify and/or explain why you are not using the printed fingering, then it's okay!
