Is this a hoax?

I saw this on gaming force (my new found friend forum) and um, the dude is serious about selling a piece of bread for the amount of a piece to build a state of the art concert hall.

I fail to see the humor.  I also had no idea that the Virgin Mary was now in the business of helping people win big at the casinos.

Well you know the last time I was in Mexico, I saw Jesus in a burrito!  Maybe Jesus is on vacation and needs his mom to fill in for him on a piece of toast! ;D

60-150 IQ scaled to a 15 split.(not sure of the right word instead of "split"15, 24 etc)

Most of the ones bidding on it are joke bidders, alas they bid and cancel...some of them actually do bid for real though, it's almost sad.  :)

Guess its not a hoax:

I just saw in my newspaper on November 23, 2004 of my town newspaper that it was sold to a casino for luck sake.

Here's another source.

they'll have fun when the bread finally disintegrates into nothingness and what a waste of money that'll be- woohoo i payed a freakish amount for something that has rotted away and doesn't exist anymore!

there was actually an artwork like that, i can't remember who, but they made this work out of orange peels that had been sewn back together- heaps of them all on the floor, and some art gallery bought it. and then naturally the orange peel began to rot, and so the gallery was left with nothing and they got really angry about it, having to pay however much for a work that just disappeared on them
