My Progress
on: January 13, 2014, 06:21:00 PM
I started to play the Piano in 2009 and started taking piano lessons in 2010 and since then my progress has looked something like this over the past 4 years.(I also played Trumpet when I was around 10-13 years old)
In 2011-2012 my teacher helped me to play higher level pieces and so I learned Für Elise and Chopin Prelude Op.28 no.4. I did not have a high sight-reading level at that point so it took time to learn the notes but after I learned the pieces I could play them by memory, my teacher( He plays only after the notes and he has a higher Sight-reading level ) I am the opposite ( I have low sight-reading level and I need more time to go through higher level pieces before I can play comfortably).
I made this Diagram and it shows my progress from 2010-2014. My sight-reading is very low and to increase my level in that area I have started to practice a lot of short level 1-4 pieces (1 page/2 pages) by following what level I currently can sight-read quite good at first sight but not perfectly. My goal is to get better at sight-reading so that I can close in on my Playing Level with my Sight-Reading Level so that I will get better at learning new pieces at my Average level faster.
Right now I am practicing on Mozart Sonata k 545 (C-Major)(Lvl.5-6) and I can play/read*(I sight-read it yesterday) the first and second movement at just under half the normal speed(I think but maybe it was slower. But when I start to remember it I can play it at the normal speed.
Is there more(better) tips for how to increase your Average level ?
