Debussy plays Debussy - fake?
on: January 16, 2014, 10:42:16 AM
Hello everyone, hope I'm at the right place
I've recently bought this album, it's titled "Claude Debussy Plays His Finest Works"
I have a feeling that this might be some kind of fake performance - can anyone please confirm that these recordings were in fact played by him?

Big thanks,

I have a similar CD of Ravel. They's based off piano rolls, not acoustic recordings, but yes, they sat down and played them.

Thank you, now it makes more sense.
I'm guessing (hoping) the machine that plays these rolls does a fair job in terms of accuracy, or maybe the lack of accuracy compensate for the fact that the recordings were played by a machine - either way it sounds pretty good to me.
Thanks again!
