Honestly i do understand a little bit of progressive music, certainly because progressive, jazz & rock stuff introduced me to "classical music"
you know i havenīt listened that much of it, although these are a high quality "musical parodies" of works such as the pictures at an exhibition (ist) :o

have you heard the steinway to heaven cd?  ;D

these guys are technically competent - as showing off their 'chops' was one of the things they did to impress fans.

for more modern guys like this - check out jordan rudess of dream theater.
