2 Original Piano Compositions
on: February 01, 2014, 01:08:14 PM
I started to compose music in 2012(I started Piano 2010) and I Mostly like to do Movie-/Soundtrack music -Piano Trio(Viola, Cello & Piano) and I have tried to write in Trio Waltz form and Piano Waltz form and Piano Theme Form, but now I'm getting into Sonatina form(with small/short Movements) and try more to give my melodies more life and I try to expand myself into composing different music.

This is my Sonatina No.1 Mvt.1 "Played by my computer" (what do you think?)

I've also written a piece in Prelude form(I'm not sure how to write Prelude (or Fugue) form but this is what I made)

Here is my Prelude No.1 in D-Minor

I wrote the second Movement (Moderato II) for the Sonatina Today. It took about 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete. The first movement (Andante I) took about half a year to complete because I  write a lot of music at the same time and if I get stuck on one piece I write a new one and get back to it later when I get more ideas.

After 4 years you should be able to play this pieces yourself, they are quite simple, why midi?

I'd say that I compose more music than I actually practice to play. But as my playing level is at 5,5 and learning level *(sight-reading) is at 3-4 I can learn to play them but It just takes some time to memorize the pieces (So I'll upload me playing them later some time).

The main part was just to get some feedback on the pieces and get som critique/tips on composing.

I'm clearly not qualified to critique this, but if I'm completly honest, I personally have found the first one, the sonatina, to be aimless, repetitive and predictable, I have no idea what were you trying to say or express on it, like it lacks "maturity", what was your objective with it?

I liked the prelude better, but it gets repetitive, and the second part again kinda feels aimless, like you put it there just because you liked it, I personally don't feel it connects with the first part but it could be just me.

In both of them the left hand is wasted, it never does anything of value, it's just there to fill a void,  in both cases I do not feel any "power" out of them, don't cause any emotion or anything, maybe because it's a midi or maybe I'm just dead inside.

Hey, maybe it's just me, after all, I don't even know if the pieces really follow what a sonatina or a prelude is.

I'll like to know what was your train of thought while composing these pieces, where were you trying to take them, or what were you trying to express with them.

I am very sensetive as a person and I can relate to almost anything. Maybe I relate in wrong ways some times but I always feel something. The Sonatina I feel like I want to forget the pain I feel inside but even if I try it is still there as a thought or a doubt.(almost like wanting to forget the pain of not calling out to someone or something).

I have a more deep feeling about the melody in the sonatina, that I felt yesterday while I was at the piano and figuring about it, while thinking about writing it in Sonata form after I'll complete the whole Sonatina.

And as I mentioned I have only been writing music for 2 years and the first piece I wrote in 2012 was not even on the same level as twinkle-twinkle.
And now 2 years later I have started to write piano trios and what not on levels I even can't play. I have written about 30 pieces per year just to get the basics down in how to write music, but I still have a long way to go I get that but The feelings I have just have to come out. And that is what music is all about. To make your feelings into sound.

The feeling I have is hard to put words to so that can be why you "don't" feel anything great in my music because you don't now how it feels like to feel like I do.
And that is what my music is telling you. You don't understand me but you will come to understand if you try to understand. If you can't put words to it you have never felt it before.
