I beg of thy to find me a piece that combines the good qualities of both these renditions: the first being the depth, touch and soul, the second being its tempo and fluidity.

Gould dissapoints me rarely, but today has been such an occassion. It is but a taste of preference I believe, but I require both depth and speed. My ears demand of it from any rendition about this piece.

Why do you constantly look for perfection in a field where perfection doesn't exist (except first movement of rach2 by volodos)?

Even if I never was a big fan of Gould, I much prefer the former. He can actually make the Bach piece enjoyable.
In general I find Baroque music is too often ruined by speed  :(

I should rephrase my sentence: looking for a version of bach prelude in c minor that is fast and has depth.

Difference in taste I think, though I do understand what you mean.

Sviatoslav Richter

Thank you!

I beg of thee to not get your pronouns confused.

thee* it is, thanks. :D

The piece sounds very well:). It would have been perfect, for my own personal preferences, if either the recording was clearer or the performer pressed the keys in more/harder. But I believe it is the first rather than the latter.

The performer is Edwin Fischer, and no doubt he would be only to happy to be still alive to take advantage of the considerable improvements in recording technology since his time.
