Rank these pieces in order of difficulty?
on: February 04, 2014, 11:01:12 AM
What do YOU think about these compositions? I know difficulty is often subjective, but if you were to assess, what ranking would you give them?
Some of these are around my level so your advice might help me choose my repertoire. Thank you
Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2 (Liszt)
Liebestraume no. 3 (Liszt)
Chopin Etude op. 10/3 (Tristesse, Chopin)
Fantaisie Impromptu (Chopin)
Etude in G minor (Moskowski)
Etude op 8/12 (Scriabin)
Prelude in G Minor (Rachmaninoff)
Prelude in C# Minor (Rachmaninoff)
Gradus ad Parnassum (Clementi)
Sinfonia no. 15 in B Minor (Bach)
Granada (Albeniz)
Concerto in D Minor (Mozart)
Flight of the Bumblebee (Korsakoff-Rachmaninoff)
Suggestion Diabolique (Prokofiev)
They are all very famous pieces played by many young pianists I know and that is one reason why I'm curious about them.

haven't looked into all of them, but i reckon the hardest are the Rach g minor prelude and the Scriabin 8 12. If you mean the entire concerto by Mozart, it requires a lot of focus, even though it's not one of the most challenging and demanding concertos. Suggestions Diabolique is also kinda hard, not has hard as the rach g minor or scriabin though.
