on: November 23, 2004, 12:14:10 AM
I am trying to identify a piece by rachmaninoff... suposably called "romance" It has piano, voice and strings (at least double-bass). The melody goes: e g b a... etc :)
Anybody know more about this piece?
Thank you,

Rachmaninoff didn't write any pieces of the sort. The closest I can come up with is a Romance for Flute, Cello, and piano which he wrote in 1890 but didn't coutn with an opus number.  Perhaps the singer is singing the flute part? There're also two other un-numbered Romances from 1890 - a piece for cello and piano, and a piece for violin and piano.

I don't know the works themselves, so I'm afraid I can't help you with the melodies. But that's the closest he comes to Bass, Piano, and Voice.

There is another piece Rachmaninoff wrote which he called "Romance" for 6 hands one piano (crazy huh?),  ;D  It sounds like the second movement of the his 2nd concerto, in the begining at least... but that's all I can think of at the moment...

There is a Rach Fantasy Pieces (Morceaux de Fantasie), Op. 3.   I don't have the score in front of me to check notes though.
