The scales of Beethoven 4th concerto 3rd movement
on: March 29, 2014, 06:03:27 PM
At the 159th and 414th bar, there these scales , I am hesitating to do glissando or play with fingers.
Both has advances and disadvances.
For those pianists who has played this piece ,what did you choose.
And in your opinion ,Beethoven himself prefer which way to do it?
P.S. Beethoven played with a pianoforte, which was quite different, slighter and more clear than our piano...

I confess I have not played it.
My girlfriend has played it, and very well too.
She did not use the glissando but she says she thinks it's a great idea!
She's a piano teacher also.
