Movies with good piano
on: March 31, 2014, 11:49:34 AM
I am obsessed with piano, I won't lie, I feel okay admitting it.
That being said. Does anyone have any favorite piano scenes from movies?

Copying Beethoven

What are some more or ones not about a composer. Anything!
Just here to lurk and cringe at my old posts now.

"Reefer Madness" -- the classic anti-marijuana movie. The pianist is the evil cannabis smoker. A must see. Hilarious.
"Five Easy Pieces" -- an early Jack Nicholson flick.
"The Competition" -- Richard Dreyfuss "plays" the Emperor.
"Mozart's Sister" a French movie featuring Nanerl. Tres subtle.

The Grand Piano (2013) - Starring Elijah Wood as a concert pianist, and a Bosendorfer Imperial grand.  Wood has amazing skillz, so much skillz that he can activate the damper WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE PEDAL!  He skillz so much that he plays notes WITHOUT TOUCHING THE KEYS or play notes while TOUCHING OTHER KEYS!

Plot: Wood is a concert pianist who has to perform on stage without making any mistakes.  One mistake and a snipper will put a bullet into his head.  Or his wife's head.  Why is the snipper doing this?  Because the custom-built Bosendorker Imperial Grand has a secret hiding inside it that only Wood's amazing fingers can unlock... if he makes no mistakes.

Don't watch this movie.  It's absolutely craptastic! :D
