There is this song in my head, its I think from a movie, kind of sad and moving piece.

I think the chords are like
G, B, D, F#, G (upper), D, F#, G (upper)
<repeat above>
<then a higher broken chord with same kind of pattern).

Look the notes are not correct, but it is something like that.  Does anyone know the piece???

I am trying to think of all the pieces I have heard with notes that are not correct. It seems to center around me, all those wrong notes...but alas I am saved by the realization that others play wrong notes too. Are there lyrics or any other signature indicators of such said wrong notes ?

Haha - Alas the song is in my head - if only I can maybe hum it to you and you would know I am sure ...

I've solved a problem like this before by learning to play what was in my head, and then going to my teacher and asking her what it was.

Maybe you can do something similar. It doesn't necessarily have to be played in the right key (which is what I think you mean when you say "the notes are not correct") for someone knowledgeable to recognise it anyway.

for what it is worth, I have experienced years trying to track a piece of music that I wasnt sure of the title. Hopefully, the music you are sure of the title can entertain you in the mean time.

It's a standard piece for piano students, most people here have played it.
You can look it up on Youtube and find tutorials for it that can show you how to play the notes without even having to read music! Let us know if you need help with it.

That piece is a good example of something.

It is really pretty easy if fingering correctly, and rather difficult if not.

You are supposed to play the fugue at the same speed, by the way.  (I can't.)

And the thread reveals a Bach Prelude in C major. We've come along way! LOL

I have a transcription of the Bach-Gounod Ave Maria (which is based on this prelude).  It starts off with the prelude played just with the left hand. I was surprised at just how much more difficult it was.

For those who don't know, this prelude is also the basis of Chopin's 10/1 Etude.

You are supposed to play the fugue at the same speed, by the way.  (I can't.)

Not necessarily - there's no "supposed to" in Bach - but it is effective that way.

The connection between the Prelude in C and Chopin's etude has always seemed very superficial to me.

What I like about it is you can easily add pedal or not and there is no musicality lost either way.

Or play it staccato, or two note slurs. There are endless combinations of awesome ways to look at this piece! Some better than others but also all still great. Unless played poorly.
Just here to lurk and cringe at my old posts now.

Really enjoying the piece with pedal at the moment - but will try all suggestions!
