Composing question
on: July 21, 2014, 10:55:29 PM
I wish there was a composing sub-forum. But anyway....

is it too outdated and cliched to compose pieces in the baroque/classical/romantic styles? What it is today's style of piano composition? Jazz? Pop? atonal?

Don't worry about style LABELS. True originality will never be cliched or outdated. Good music is timeless! Try to write good, original music, and don't worry about categorization.

Writing in the old styles means using different vocabularies and tools created by the composers of those styles. This means not theft or lack of originality, but rather finding a suitable area/stile in which you can put your talent to maximum use!
