My wedding entrance! (I'm the bride)
on: July 31, 2014, 06:30:52 PM
Hi guys!
I need some help!
I am getting married in three months and I still don't have the music for the entrance to the church with my father. I don't want the tipical Air of Strings of the Pachelbel's canon, and I'm stuck.
What do you suggest?
I thank you a lot in advance!!!
Love,
Yanina

What instrumentation?  Is there an organ, piano?

Do you have an idea of the character of the music you would like?

Some ideas:

Trio Sonata BWV 525, 1st movement

Pachelbel - he wrote quite a bit of keyboard music

If you want something a bit noisier:

Listen to the whole suite if you like this:

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

This is pretty traditional:

Or you could try:

Or:

And I've always wanted to see a bride come down the aisle to this:

I like it.  Did some digging, and it turns out its a piano piece.  Score is on IMSLP

Unfortunately that's not a very good scan. If anyone's interested I could scan my copy privately.

Kuula was considered the big promise of the Finnish music scene (both as a composer and a conductor). And then he got into a fight while drunk at a party during the civil war and got himself shot...

OT, but this one is really cool:

(it's a student playing and not quite a polished performance, but the only one I could find)

I presume most of these are tongue-in-cheek!

First, find out what musical resources are available to you
Second; ask their (the musician's)advice - they may not be up to speed on some of these wilder flights of fancy
Third; don't dump something difficult on them with insufficient time to learn it
Fourth; how long is the aisle? how much music will it take to get you to the front and PRACTISE your walk so you time it right.

If this is a church wedding the Gounod Messe breve No. 7 aux chapelles is lovely.  Obviously not specifically for the entrance, but to be part of the service.

Are you looking for a record or have musicians ? I dont have a specific answer for which music for you but I once played a version of the Beatles "And I l Love Her" re-arranged for piano and one singer. It was good music for the bride entrance.
