I'm no pianist, for sure, but it nevertheless occurs to me that the acts of playing the piano (or learning to do so) and of lying down seem somehow to be physically incompatible, for what that nugget of information may or may not be worth as a contribution to this thread (for what said thread may or may not be worth)...

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I want to see someone accompany a student like that.  You know those super easy accompaniment pieces, when the student is there hacking through the piece?  Flip upside down and accompany them that way.  Just for fun.  Just once, at least.  You're technically still accompanying them, so what's the problem really?

Clearly, the video in the OP is a marketing ploy by Saint-Saëns' heirs.
Chopin Op 18, Op 53, 62/2, 37/2, 10/12
Fauré Nocturne 5
Bach English Suite 3
Brahms 79/2

*Bob wonders if he's been playing the wrong music.*

It's probably not Hanon.  I've worked out at least that much.  It probably helps to have someone within earshot too I would think.

If none are within earshot, bring the earshot within them.

*Bob considers how possible it would be to get a harem to move a grand piano around for him all the time...*  Chances of the grand piano, a harem, or a harem moving my own personal grand piano around are probably all equally likely.

That would be an awful lot of work just to see the effect of playing Hanon in this way.  *Bob considers that he wouldn't actually be the one moving the piano though...*

Guess I'll go practice.... But I don't see how that could work though if I'm practicing alone in a room.  Sounds like this idea is heading in the wrong direction then....

*Bob considers practicing FFF so someone would hear.*

I was thinking about an experiment actually.  I have a piece in mind.  Haha.

Which brings up the question.... What makes for a "lay worthy" piece of music?

The piece, the environment (church vs. bar vs. home, etc.), and then the people.  Me, playing scales, with no one around vs.  Me playing an accessible piece of music in a bar with lots of people around.  Completely different story.  The home practicing would be the control.

That probably would actually work.  Get a keyboard and amp.  Go to a bar and play something.  Someone would almost for sure approach and say something.

I guess that's an advantage of being a pianist then.  Except for hauling both a keyboard and an amp... It's just you.  No competition that way.

Better yet -- You might only have to haul the equipment *to* the event.  If you pick up several women you can have them haul the equipment out for you.  It's the harem idea again.  I'd estimate maybe 4-5 being needed to haul equipment around easily.  Dang, I forgot about a chair and stand... Maybe 5-6 then.  All the equipment is probably going to weight over a 100 pounds.... That's a lot to carry.

Chruch, some Bach would do wonders, perhaps a Fugue. For a Bar some Pop/Rock not necessarily very recent but easy to identify and for home you can pull out THAT piece.

You know which I'm talking 'bout.
