What could be the correct reasons for doing a major and wanting to get a degree in Piano?

In my humble (?) opinion, there is only one good reason for getting any major in a college or conservatory, whether it's piano or economics or anything else. You yourself have to want to do it. This is particularly true if the major is one of ones less likely to result in a good paying career (it it's for a good paying career, if you're in love with the idea of "good paying", then that might over come the disenchantment with the major when you find that it will be really hard work).
