Advanced Slurs

Hello, I will be getting a teacher in a couple weeks, but I have a question that is bugging me.

Recently, I have been working on the movement "Ondine" of Ravel's suite "Gaspard de la Nuit" and just a few days ago I wondered about the intricate slurs (some examples are attached).
Does the great length and weaving of slurs indicate something I don't know or is it just a colossal exaggeration of how smooth, even and liquid-like the articulation of the notes should be?

Also, show some pieces that contain advanced slurs.

Your level is clearly way higher than mine, but... I think Ravel is just giving different phrasings for different voices. I've met this before, too - the B section of Chopin nocturne op 62 no 2, for example, has a plenty of these.
Chopin Op 18, Op 53, 62/2, 37/2, 10/12
Fauré Nocturne 5
Bach English Suite 3
Brahms 79/2

They're phrase marks, just like any other. The only reason they seem so long on the page is that Ravel chucks a lot of notes into a short space of time. At speed, they're not particularly long at all.
