Chopin Piano Competition! How to get there?
on: September 16, 2014, 09:03:07 AM
What do i need to do to compete? Schooling wise do I need a masters in performance or can I do it while in school because they ask for degrees also how important are the recommendations? It is my dream to simply compete in this competition and I get choked up just watching the performance videos and interviews Im already set to attend college for piano performance albeit community but I am going to transfer later to a conservatory most likely SUNY Purchase. What then? Even if I have the required repertoire what else do I need please help…..

Do you mean the Warsaw International Competition? In that case:

First step: win a minimum of three top prizes (not necessarily first prize on the three ones) at renowned international competitions. Otherwise is loosing time filling the form...

Precisely.  And in leading to those big prizes in other top comps, op should already be well on way to placing and winning regional smaller ones.

I mean the one they have in Miami. The first a second place of the one in Miami gets automatic acceptance into the one in Warsaw but I mean what are some good ways to get in there. They say to submit any diplomas or certificates you have and also two letters of recomendation from renowned pianists. Will college professors at conservatory qualify? As well as a list of accomplishments from the past three years. What are some things that are good accomplishments? Im planning to enter some competitions in New York where I live. Also an audition for a debut recital at Carnegie hall for young pianist. Are those good for applications? It is my dream to simply compete in the Warsaw competition as Chopin is the composer I love the most and his music literally saved my life.

Only if they are concertising pianists of some renown.

As well as a list of accomplishments from the past three years. What are some things that are good accomplishments?

Good results in other competitions, favourably reviewed concerts.
