I am a classically trained jazz pianist, and in this version of Over the Rainbow, I used a lot of my classical training for technique and expression. I used my jazz training for rhythmic, re-harmonizational and improvisational alterations. Please check it out and tell me what you think!

tell me what you think!

I think posting it once is sufficient.

There are some nice harmonies and transitions in places and some of the runs are quite nice, though I think the volume is excessive.

I think it needs more continuity though.

Now I'm not a jazz pianist, so I can't give you really constructive criticism.

My favorite version is Oscar Peterson's. You might listen and see if you can get some stylistic and continuity ideas.

Yeah - seriously... Double posting is just stupid... TRIPLE posting is just pathetic. It seems like your just hoarding for YouTube views.

trying to get more feedback actually, I'm developing some online curriculum and as a new teacher, would like to get as much info as possible. I'm new to this website and was unsure if people frequented different forums or mostly stuck to one, as well as getting different feedback from different types of users. As for my views, they will build over time based on my video's merits. Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I agree it needs more continuity, parts of it were a little hesitant but I kept the recording anyway. Any opinion you have about the music is constructive, it doesn't matter your background! Music, to me, doesn't have to match some kind of stylistic template. I've heard Oscar's version before, it's great! Though I took most of my inspiration from Keith Jarrett's version:

Wow... that's much nicer than the PM you just sent me - don't worry, I didn't really read it.

But, considering I've been on these forums much longer and we've had our share of people who simply used it to sell SPAM, horde YouTube views, or use it as a pin-up board for ranting about minutia.

It just looks cheesy when you write the exact same message and post it multiple times. Maybe you should get to know the rules and etiquette before ranting off like you did in my PM... otherwise it just makes you look bad.

How do you know it wasn't nice if you didn't read it? I merely said the same thing I posted here but asked why you called me pathetic, and how long you've been that kind of person. That makes you look bad. And yes I understand people can abuse these forums, it doesn't give you the right to resort to name-calling. Anyway, I didn't expect that kind of treatment on a piano forum
