Overture no.11 op.39 is my favourite
And what part of "Chopin Etude" did you not understand?
I think he meant Chopin's Neighbours', for Chopin is too commonplace. I understand the op very well.
Etudes of Chopin are generally beautiful pieces- what's your favorite?
Op. 25/7, nicknamed "Cello". P.S.: IMHO, the transcription for cello with piano accompaniment is also worth listening to:
it's an étude and the material is chopin ( mostly)
One suspects the bit that's not "mostly" appeals to you most.
Doesn't immediately come most folks mind but it's an étude and the material is chopin ( mostly) Love this thing!
My favorite is Etude op. 25 no. 7 in C sharp minor. It's a slow one, so people usually don't play it. Another one I like very much is Etude op. 10 No. 6 in e flat minor.
Good choices! I must say, every Chopin Etude is very close to my heart! I think two of the most beautiful ones, however, are two of the LEAST often played-numbers 2 and 3 of the Trois Nouvelle Etudes
I am partial to TNE #1 in F minor, a short study of continuous 3 against 4. Very haunting, almost bluesy, and once the cross rhythm is secure, quite fun to play.
Honestly, I think ALL of Chopin's Etudes are more or less equally musical. It's almost unreasonable to declare a favourite!
