Rachmaninoff Concerto 2 1st mvt
on: November 25, 2014, 12:35:36 AM
Hi everyone!

This is my most recent recording of the Rachmaninoff 2 piano concerto. I have another chance to record it again in a few days. I'd hope to make my next recording better than this one. If anyone could please suggest some improvements to help me, it would be greatly appreciated!!

In the beginning, is the very bottom bass rolled for artistic reasons, or because you can't reach it?
Aside from that, it seems a bit... technical, for lack of a better word, in the beginning. Granted, it's just arpeggios, but it just sounds like filler.
Otherwise, however, good performance! Shame you couldn't get a full orchestra.

No amount of how-to information is going to work if you have the wrong mindset, the wrong guiding philosophies. Avoid losers like the plague, and gather with and learn from winners only.

I actually really loved your opening to this piece!  Your hand movements especially were very well choreographed, and I thought overall it was a fantastic performance.

Around 4:50 it could be a bit more punchy, as well as 5:30.  Give us more dramatic difference in dynamics, with epic swells and accents!

Super exciting to listen!   I've never heard it with piano accompaniment.

Looking forward to more,

Eric

Hello Angeni .... Hello Arthur,

How time flies and now, both of you are well into your teens... and playing VERY WELL ! !
I really liked your rendition .... technically accurate and well delivered.  Perhaps if there was anything, the "romance" side needs a teeny bit more developing, but I am sure this will come with a little more time.  AS you probably know, I am not a pianist but a father of one and has listened to this piece over decades and has formed some ideas of my own (though you should not take me too seriously  :) ;D).

GOOD LUCK to both of you and keep on with the beautiful music!!!!
