Curious effects of Oculus Rift
on: December 26, 2014, 04:31:43 AM
Has anyone here experienced the very distinctive form of motion sickness this device produced in me yesterday ? My son had me try it for a while and I had recurring symptoms for hours afterwards. It wasn't at all the same as ordinary motion sickness, which I get on rare occasions and which wears off very rapidly once the stimulus is removed. With this effect I had recurrent, if brief, waves of intense nausea and deja-vu, accompanied, for some reason I do not understand, by the taste of a small whisky I consumed shortly before trying out his device.
Such associative flashbacks occurred throughout yesterday afternoon and night and more mildly even this morning. Reading on the internet, it seems the majority of people react in this way, which effect is proving a major obstacle to marketing. I can't say I am surprised !
