Liszt Totentanz and others
on: December 06, 2004, 04:15:23 PM
Anyone knows where I can find the solo version of Liszt Totentanz (sheetmusicarchive has the 2-pianos version only) for free and online if possible ?

I am also trying to get Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition (internet and free). Anyone ?

The solo piano version. I was able to find that one.

But I wanted the solo & orchestra version.

Well I got it free, I'll put the .pdf online.

I never heard the solo version, did anyone record it? The best orchestra & piano version I ever heard was (suprisingly) Cziffra.

Of course Leslie Howard has recorded it.  I've not heard his recording, but I have Arnoldo Cohen's recording for Naxos which is very good.

I agree.  And the recording includes Liszt's two piano concerti -- what a deal.

I loved that recording too. Listened to it all the time. Until I got Cziffra's one. I still prefer a few sections the way Zimerman does it. But if I listen to Cziffra's one. I really prefer the ascending ending. What did Liszt originally intend?

And about it being a suprise, I did not like Cziffra's Chopin etudes.

What else is on the Cziffra recording besides Totentanz?
