Tico-Tico no Fubá
on: January 08, 2015, 02:07:14 PM
ie by  Zequinha de Abreu c. 1917

There's a solo version of this out there that even the performing pianist doesn't quite know who did it. Anyone familiar with the arranger or publisher of the book she mentioned in comments. Would love to get my hands on it.

btw i did find another really fine advanced version that i'll be buying but still really interested in the above
this one is more adventurous and 'virtuosic' not to unlike some Liszt works

*dat 2nd half!  :o

nice! somehow that one skirted by me, i have lots of Hamelin but did not know about this one. I like the quirky reharmonization.

You mean " a really old book with Latin arrangements". Not much to go on, unless someone actually has it.

Have you already had a look-see at the versions of it at IMSLP?

https://imslp.org/wiki/Tico-Tico_no_fub%C3%A1_%28Abreu,_Zequinha%29

I could be wrong, but it seems like the beginning of that particular version you're interested in (the first video) is the same one that appears in the PDF uploaded to IMSLP by user 'IgorCello', but that second section is missing in that score; however, the score right below that one seems to feature it. At the very least, it also has a second section, maybe it's the one featured in the vid you uploaded first?

Thanks for sharing, by the way ;) , I've always been interested in Brazilian piano music (or piano arrangements of Brazilian folk music, in this case, and to be more precise) and that's one I didn't know yet!

Yet another jewel?!   8) You've absolutely made my day, old chap!! I already had a look at the digital collection of her sheet music and already had lots of fun today playing all those you recommended as well as a couple other ones, like the Mazurka from 'Dama de ouros' and 'Água do vintém'!

Cheers, once more!
Any other suggestions would be most definitely welcome ;)  :P
