Please - does anyone know the name of this piece ?
on: January 13, 2015, 07:43:53 AM
Hi,

This is my first post here, and it's probably not completely appropriate for this forum. I'm sorry for that. However this air has been stuck in my brain for over a year now and I can't get it out of my mind, so I'm turning to the online classical community in a last desperate search for an answer...

Does anyone happen to know this piece ?
I heard it in a church in Lyon and was able to record a snippet. It's slightly reminiscent of the Offrande musicale by Bach, but I've trawled the entire keyboard repertory by Bach and haven't been able to figure out what it is.

So if any of you knows of any piano transcriptions or... Any help would be greatly appreciated !

(And I promise - I won't be making it a habit to post questions about organ repertory here  :-[ )

Thanks a lot !

Ane

Ps. Sorry, the recording is a bit crappy

Funny you had to come to a piano forum to get peace of mind on this one :)
This is the aria Wie furchtsam wankten meine Schritten from Bach's cantata BWV 33.
I found an organ adaptation of it here

Not sure if that is the one you heard - the sound is rather too bad.

cbreemer, you can't imagine how thoroughly and blissfully happy you've just made me !
This is it - exactly what I was looking for. I'm now going to put it on repeat and let it accompany my last-minute effort to finish my thesis into the wee hours. It'll be a joy  :)

Thank you so much !

Best,

Ane
