Which Mozart piece is this?
on: January 18, 2015, 04:55:09 PM
Hey guys, have been looking for the name of this piece for 3 years now ever since I first heard it. Not even sure it is Mozart, but a lot of people seem to think so (a lot of people have also suggested it is Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, which it clearly isn't).

Very appreciative of any help!

no idea.  i tried looking online for you but i couldn't come up with the answer.  it may not even be classical and actually be written for the anime.  do you want to find it so you can learn it on the piano or for other reasons?  if you just want to learn it on the piano it is very simple and someone here could transcribe it for you.

If someone could transcribe it that would be amazing, I am in fact very interested in learning the piece. I really have no ear for picking out chords myself though, been playing from sheet music since I was 11.

My suspicion however is that it's just a small part of a larger piece, assuming it is actually derived from a classical piece.

I'm pretty sure that's not Mozart, doesn't sound like his style. Probably some minor contemporary of his - JC Bach, maybe, or Dittersdorf or someone like that. Possibly a sonatina aimed at young players.
Instrumentalists are all wannabe singers. Discuss.

I'm thinking it could be a beginners version of a more advanced piece. Something that you'd find in a piano book for children. Also thank you so much for transcribing it alex! Looking forward to seeing it :D

i suck at writing sheet music and this is taking forever.  would you be okay if i just wrote what the notes are for each hand?

Sounds absolutely perfect! The only comment I have is at 9 seconds into your video, which is at 6 seconds in the original video, where you omit one note on the right hand.

I just wanna say how amazed I am every time I see someone with a good ear throw a piece together like this, I could spend hours listening and trying on the piano and get positively nowhere :P

Edit: And yes I would be okay with that, you're the one doing me a favor here so I am grateful for anything I can get =)

would you prefer sheet music?  i could do it but it would just take longer.

EDIT:  i sent a private message with all the notes that i played for each hand.  i know it doesn't give  note value or which octave the particular note is supposed to be played but it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out if you have the notes.

I would prefer sheet music, thank you! Does your keyboard have a port so that you can connect it to the computer? Because in that case you can record what you play as a midi and then use a program to convert it to sheet music, as described here: https://www.pianoclues.com/2008/02/25/how-to-record-midi-part-4-playing-your-midi-recordings/

Edit: Ah, cheers! I'll just PM you if I can't figure it out :P
