good introduction to piano/violin duet piece
on: January 20, 2015, 03:00:13 PM
Hi, I'm looking for some suggestions for piano/violin duo pieces. I probably don't want something too advanced, since this is my first time doing a duet. Just for reference, I am learning the moonlight sonata at the moment. I am not sure about the violin's level, but I think she can hold her own.

I heard Mozart - Sonata in E minor, K.304 mentioned, but I'm not sure about the difficulty of that one.

I only have ~ 7 weeks to prepare.

Indeed, Mozart's e minor is quite lovely! I really love the 2nd mvt. If you can play the Moonlight sonata, you should not have any trouble.

You could consider the Bach Arioso for piano and violin.

Classic classic is Beethoven Spring sonata. Anytime I have a chance to have a violinist and a piano, I'd pull this on iPad and make them play, and it always is so much fun even with an intermediate violinist - they all love the piece.

If you want something not difficult but lovely, try Arvo Part, Spiegel im Spiegel.

Dvorak's Sonatina Op.100 is good fun and quite easy to pull off.
