Sabaneyev Sonata and etc
on: January 20, 2015, 06:22:59 PM
Leonid Sabaneyev wrote a fairly substantial sonata "in memoriam of Scriabine", I have looked through the score. It would require enormous dedication. Has this music ever been recorded or even played? There's a nocturne by him that looks to be of substance as well.
Beethoven-Alkan, concerto 3
Faure barcarolle 10
Mozart-Stradal, symphony 40

I came across the score over a year ago, at that time i did search youtube. I should have checked before posting today, it appears. Thanks for bringing it up. Reminiscent of Feinberg and Scriabin, exactly what I was hoping for.

Hi,

on IMSLP there are very few works of Sabaneev, because, as we can read there, of copyright issues. It seems some uploads have been deleted as well.

Nevertheless, the University of Rochester is of the opinion that the Sonata (at least the 1924 version. Don't know if there are others) is public domain.

Here is the search page of the University of Rochester, where one could enter "Sabaneev" in the search field.

Cordially, 8_octaves.

Hi visitor,

yes, :) - but until today I neither had known about the "two" resources, I accidentally surfed, and detected, as you can see, the link given above. Now, I checked the "direct" Sibley Music Library catalog, too ( it looks a little different, but I didn't compare the results of both of them.. :o ).

They, all in all, look like usable and good info-resources (for "normal" investigations). The only thing I remember, is, that some IMSLP-files of various composers are classified by "uploader: Sibley" or sth. like that.

Nevertheless: A good info-resource, it seems. :)
