Mozart and Liszt
on: February 10, 2015, 02:13:02 AM
2 pieces both of which I had never heard before (the Mozart I had never heard any version...) and these are both videos of me playing them. Please keep in mind that the Mozart was sightread and the Liszt... well it was the second time I had ever seen the music. But, feel free to rip these to shreds and tell me how awful they are! Trust me I already know but would love new angles of terribleness. Later in the spring I will be uploading some more fun stuff that is even more beautiful!

The Mozart will be uploaded shortly

In Festo Transfigurationis Domini Nostri J. C.

Domini Nostrils may cause offence (though I smiled, briefly).

Not sure what you are after in terms of feedback. Not bad for sightreading, but surely a few more times through wouldn't have hurt for a "hey guys listen to this piece" type performance?

True true, when I have some time tomorrow I may re do both of these after a bit of work on each.

Here's the Mozart

I think Domini Nostrils proves what we've always thought about apple/google.  ;D

Is that the S.461a or the S.461?  Either way, it's way too slow and doesn't get the balance right - you should probably have a listen to the original Mozart Ave Verum Corpus - it's one of my favourite pieces of all time. Not bad for sightreading, but it would really benefit from a more considered approach and doesn't really do it much justice yet.

BTW, if it's 461, do post the Miserere as well (after a little work).

using the latin I learnt from highschool, does 'In Festo Transfiguationmis Domini Nostri J. C.' mean, 'in the holiday of the transformation of our master jesus christ?'

Anyways, for In festo Transfiguationis, is there any reason why you start off the bass so loud? you leave no room for the volume to build. I also think that with such a simple melody to start off with, you shouldn't put much rubato as it appears to be atmospheric music and more insubstantial. It sounds like rachmaninoff.

You have alerted me to two spelling errors in my post (now corrected). It's In Festo Transfigurationis Domini Nostri Jesu Christi, which translates as on the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Feast of the Transfiguration is one of the holy days of the Catholic Church (and probably others).

J menz, some of that looks a bit ridiculous to do just for fun right now... And I have now listened to the Mozart and am simply embarrassed by my rendition haha Thats what I get for sightreading and posting though!

Ill put a bit more work in the Festo and re post it. I am just gonna be done with the MOzart though.
