Help identifying Time Sig/Key sig in this piece?
on: February 25, 2015, 08:04:31 PM
Foreword (i.e., you can skip this if you want)
So, even though I'm a serious classical player, I also happen to love gaming. Having a musical background also means I tend to appreciate the music in said games more.
So, I've also been using the site ninsheetm.us for all their piano arrangements and what not, and I thought I'd contribute back to said site by giving them some arrangements. I have one I'm working on now but I'm taking a break from it as it's a HARD one to arrange (I spent two hours on 6 bars), and I decided to take a stab at this one.

(Yes, my inner love for the most nerdy/childish games possible is showing)
Right now, I'm working on the very beginning. Up to the pickup around 0:46 where it goes into a much more lively mood.
I'm fairly certain the key is E major, but the time is slipping me. It seems like it's in 4/4, but it also feels like 6/8 since, as you'll hear, the RH is all in triplet accompaniment while the left hand has a (gorgeous) melody. Perhaps it's 6/4?
Anyways. Any and all help anyone could give me is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

It's in E Major, and the beginning suggests 4/4 with a triplet LH accompaniment.

You were on the money.

Awesome! XD
Great to know my ear skills are fairly good. Also, the way I'm going to (have to) arrange it means the triplet accompaniment is going to be in the RH. Ah well XD

Take a look at this, specially the piano part.  It may give you some ideas on how to arrange the piece with the triplets divided between hands.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
