Question on fingering
on: March 11, 2015, 09:22:46 AM
Hi all,
I got trouble with playing a section of Islamey.
My current fingering just doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas on how I should play it?

(page 10, line 2, last 2 bars)
Thanks!

Perhaps you might care to indicate your current fingering? This doesn't seem particularly out of line with previous bits.

my current fingering:
23 14 23 14 23 14 23 15 24 13 1 24 (first bar)
14 24 3 15 2 4 3 2 3 12 (second bar)
Hope that's understandable...

my current fingering:
23 14 23 14 23 14(.) 23 15 24 13 1 24 (first bar)
23 14 23 14 23 14. 13 24 13 24 1 24 (first bar)
That's what i'd probably use, but it's better to take advice from someone who's played it and brought it up to standard. This is farther down on my list of things to do since it's not really musically convincing to me. At some point....
Might i venture that if you can't develop your own fingerings on repertoire like this, it's possibly too difficult for you. Just a point of view, you need not take it, i don't know you and your playing.
Also, my edition has the following
24 15 24 15 24 15. 24 35 24 13 2 24 which i probably would not use.

The one I worked out actually follows "your edition" a little closer.
4 5 4 5 4 5 4 5 4 3 4 | 3 5 2
2 1 2 1 2 1 2 3 1 2 1 2 | 1 2 1 2 3 4 3 2 5 1
