Sight reading problems
on: March 18, 2015, 12:55:10 PM
I can't sight read very well because of three reasons:

I can't help checking if I've read each note correctly, which really slows me down.

If I try not to waste time checking, I always read each note a third higher/lower than the correct note and the rhythm completely messes up.

I try to read ahead but I can't hold music in my memory (probably because I can't think of an efficient way to do so), even though tests show that my working memory is fine.

What are you trying to read, and what pieces are you currently working on?

If you're having trouble sight reading, play one of those beginner books.
