What is your favouite composer/piece and why?

My favourite piece is probably Chopin's op 25 no 1 or Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

And two lovely favourites they are too. Whatever we play and perform we should always feel that with each work we are playing our favourite piece and then we can communicate  the most valuable thing in our playing, the quality that brings life to interpretations-our love of music.

Robert makes an excellent point.  The fact is that we can never have too many favorite pieces as we delve deeper and deeper into the vast piano repertoire.
Interpreting music means exploring the promise of the potential of possibilities.

My favorite piece is quite often the piece I hate most, too, depending on my mood, because it's usually the one that's bugging me most at the time.  Right now it's Beethoven's Apassionata.  Last week it was the Cramer sonata.
So much music, so little time........

My favorite composer and piece is Chopin's Nocturne no. 1, op. 9 because it's very beautiful, and soothing.
