Pianists need to be taken less seriously
on: March 23, 2015, 03:00:26 PM
I see people on the forums mentionning rumours and heresays about famous pianists especially considering technique...
For example I heard some stupid rumour that horowitz got buried with a copy of hanon, and I also read that rachmaninov knew hanon inside and out in all keys.
These two were known pranksters, and these kind of things sound exactly like what a troll would say. Especially the rach thing about Hanon, I can totally imagine him answering questions about technique and formation being like "Yes, we learn Hanon by heart in all keys!! lololol"

These rumours are definitely the work of trolls.
Its common knowledge that the great Horowitz was a big fan of Hanon, the singing Mermaid Princess from 'Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch'.

Anyone that suggests otherwise is merely boasting about their ignorance.

and everyone knows that Rachmaninoff was actually  part of a soul hunting team. Sergei was a soul reaper  first, and used the piano/composing part of things as an effective alias/cover up.

"Never be afraid to play before an artist.
The artist listens for that which is well done,
the person who knows nothing listens for the faults." (T. Carreño, quoting her 2nd teacher, Gottschalk.)
