Hi everyone,

dug up an old video of mine. This was part of an all-Liszt recital commemorating his 200th birth anniversary.

This is a rarely played piece, probably there are much better Liszt transcriptions out there.. fun octave exercise though!

Enjoy!

Apart from the beginning which i would  personally play a fair bit faster (if i could),  i was completely bowled over by your performance. It was full of fire and brilliance and i doubt if many pianists would play this in concert.

Perhaps there are better Liszt transcriptions, but listening to you play this, perhaps there are not as many as one might imagine.

10 out of 10 from me.

Probably it's rarely played because it is so difficult! Excellent performance, agreed with Thal about the first page but other than that it is very good.

big thank you to Thal and ronde_des_sylphes for your kind comments..

I did remember that the tempo choice at the front was deliberate! haha... matter of taste maybe... upon reading both your comments, i did go listen to some other versions online.. Earl Wild's recording was a touch faster, yes!!

Liszt must have been suffering from an overdose of octaves when he wrote that piece.

You do a great job. In this highly virtuoso, supposedly "flashy" piece, you give priority to the musical line, never falling into cheap effects or histrionics. An exciting interpretation: Bravo!

I tend to use him as a benchmark for repertoire like this as i think he excelled in it.

You obviously have the equipment to play the beginning faster if you wanted to.

Very good but just one word of advice study the Chopin etude op.25 no.10 trust me it will make your octaves much more smooth and Lisztian
