Bartok Piece?
on: April 23, 2015, 01:08:03 AM
Hi,
I am looking for a not-too dissonant Bartok piece from 30 seconds- 12 minutes . When I say that, I mean pieces like "3 Hungarian Folksongs from Csik"  or "Bagpipe Music from Mikrokosmos V". Music even less dissonant is even better :)

I really like "Lament" from 10 Easy Pieces, but I think playing that in this situation would be kind of unorthodox :( Not because it is easy, but because Bartok decided to put that it is for children :( I think it is one of my favorite pieces. (But I haven't heard many, so I'm asking you)

Thanks: any suggestions?

Dance in Bulgarian Rhythm No 2- did this one not too long ago, it's fun. All of the bulgarian dances are in asymmetrical meter (this one is 2+2+3 over 8 ).

Always been a huge fan of how he treats these. I actually feel his genius most manifests itself best in the most dissonant works ( though I love the contrast and unexpected harmony changes in the night in Transylvania above :D ) but you are seeming to abstain from his better material   And requested less dissonant, I believe this is his least dissonant work.
Lots to choose from you can go a few minutes to your 12-14 mark ( there's a lot about 30+min worth)
