Restarting Piano practices advice
on: April 24, 2015, 10:49:26 AM
Last year I dropped my piano courses I was satisfied but college studies took most of my time, I was busy I couldn’t practice on a regular basis.
I remember I was grade 5; It was messy I didn’t follow the program
My teacher syllabus as each grade enclosed practicing Czerny and Hanon exercises with scales and arpeggios
Beside technical, we used to study J.S Bach pieces from the French suites book, even though I played roughly 1/3 of them (I was not interested/practicing good enough)
In addition to that, I was able to play good enough Chopin’s Waltz in C-sharp minor and Debussy’s Claire de lune that my teacher said was more grade 6/7 pieces (?)
Having stopped for half year now, I am willing to get back to my study habits without a teacher.
- Do you think it is a good idea to ditch grade 5, start Czerny op740 and continue Hanon exercises?
- What about Bach? I would like to leave the French suites, what do you recommend for grade 6? I checked WTC but it’s way too hard.
- Finally, what classical pieces do you advise?
