Piano solo transcriptions hunt is still on...
on: April 30, 2015, 02:21:58 AM
Hullo once more  ;),

I'm curious if anyone knows of any piano solo arrangement of Mozart's Serenade for winds K.361/370a. There's a couple other serenades of Wolferl arr. for piano 2 hands at IMSLP, but this one is evidently not there, not even a 4-hand or 2 pianos arrangement.

Any info will be most welcome!
Cheers,
M.W. 8)

Hi MW,

I think it may exist. Let's have a look in the helpful Hofmeister-catalog of announced ( or published ) works, for data:

Quote from: Hofmeister
Mozart, W.A., Serenade (B) f. 2 Ob., 2 Clar., 2 Bassethörner, 4 Waldhörner, 2 Fag. u. Contrafag., f. Pfte übertr. v. H.M. Schletterer. Leipzig, Rieter-Biedermann Mk 7.
    October und November 1876.

It describes the key, which is "B", meaning "B flat major" in English. So, if there's no other Serenade by Mozart in B flat major (on IMSLP I couldn't see another in that key), then at least it was ANNOUNCED. And we have an arranger: Schletterer.

Here's some general info about the Serenade in B / instrumentation / other names etc.:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenade_No._10_%28Mozart%29

But I haven't found it in the library-catalogs yet.

Cordially, 8_octaves!  ;)

"Never be afraid to play before an artist.
The artist listens for that which is well done,
the person who knows nothing listens for the faults." (T. Carreño, quoting her 2nd teacher, Gottschalk.)

It's in some libraries.

I found this one - and some more entries (more than with "Mozart" as "author" ) via searching with SCHLETTERER as author, via a meta-search-engine which INCLUDES the worldcat.
_________

Careful, a little bit, because there seems to be a version for Piano AND VIOLIN, too.

Hey, 8_octs, dear chap!

Thank you for the info from the Zentralbibliothek. ;)I'll certainly look into it, but I don't know how much help it will be, since I don't even live in Europe, let alone in Germany! ^^ So I can't really go there and have a look at the scores; I don't know if they digitize them, but I remember some Reinecke scores I asked about once whose digitizing cost a simply outrageous amount of bucks. :(

Thus, if you happen to bump into any such an arrangement of that particular Mozart serenade that is already in PDF or any similar format, I will appreciate it enormously!

Cheers once more for all the help, :)
