How to improve compositional harmony?
on: May 14, 2015, 06:01:41 PM
So I've been writing music for a while, but I lack the ability to texture music nicely. My harmony consists of boring chords. Does anyone know ways for my to improve my ability to write harmonies?

Hi.
Are you using 3 notes chords to accompany?

You might try singing what harmony you are looking for at the place(s) in question..

Some like to use thirds or sixths to harmonize the melody, yet there are other possibilities…(as each chord Could imply up to seven (or more :o ) notes…  perhaps used as 'passing tones'.
