the 1878 Steinway at the U. of I.
on: June 02, 2015, 06:02:19 PM
Hi Everyone,
This video was uploaded on March 1 of this year by Dr. Alan Huckleberry of the Iowa University School of Music. I know someone in N.Y.C. who owns a Steinway concert grand from around the same year. I played it when he still lived in Iowa. The treble "sing"/sustain wasn't nearly as nice as what is heard from the U. of I. piano. The microphone here is the one on the camcorder, not the good mics.
I think I recognize someone in the audience - I do, I see you there in the video! Unfortunately my friend is not a Piano Street member, so no response here will be forthcoming.
The video below is from performance last April on the 1878 Steinway. Haoyang Yan is the pianist.
Mvh,
Michael
