I remmember hearing from someone about a jazzy version of chopin's prelude in e minor. I think its the forth.

I may have misunderstood.. anyway,  if anybody got a recording, could be interesting.

I don't know of one that's written, but I actually played a jazzy, actually, funky version of it one time in a rock-band setting..  it was not written out, I just "improvised it" (as it were..)  I added some tritones and minor 7ths as inspiration struck, and instead of playing the steady quarter notes in the LH, I funked it up almost as if I were playing a James Brown bass line and the right hand was phrased almost like a trumpet/horn section.

no.. I am not posting this in jest!
(but I'm now ducking as you all throw rocks at me) -

it was during a band practice (a silly rock band) while half the band was taking a smoke break, and it was merely for laughs.   but the guys in the band who had no idea what the piece was all thought it was pretty cool.
