Maybe I haven't read enough of Bernhard, but Bernard sure could wax eloquently about pedagogy.

For some reason, I thought you were talking about Benedict.
Bernard - from NY - knows a lot about piano, but is not a teacher. They are different people.

Hmmmm.  Reading "Hmoll" as perhaps HMO II, and the form of that command, would you be Jolly? :)

Okay, so having seen the hint in the other thread, I've concluded that guess was wrong.

The hint about Norway and Titanic in the other thread makes me think I know in the back of my mind, but senility precludes pulling the name out of my head.  But I'm not hopeless.  In about three years, it'll hit me. 8)

And I was.  (doh!)   Has anybody seen my short term memory  . . . .
 ( I hate it when I do that. ::) )

hmoll, were you a fairly frequent poster, or basically a lurker?

EDIT:  Forget it, just got the news on the other thread... hiya, Phlebas!

Well in that case, it's not Benedict. He would always post about sightreading scalses, and stuff like that.

I had narrowed it down to either Phlebas or Kreisler, but I was calculating how high my post count could go if I guessed all 8,923, one at a time. ;)

You're right.  I read a few more of Bernard's post and he clearly is a pro, while Benedict was just an exuberant student.  I loved all of his musings  on memorization vs. sight reading.

Hi Jodi, and the others! How's life for you on this side? These forums are pretty nice, I've just been having a look around. I may stick around for a while, but I don't think I could ever leave PW, it's just been my home for too long to say goodbye now.

Anyway, I'm off to look around a little more. I do like it here.
