How to become a piano teacher?
on: June 08, 2015, 09:30:02 PM
What does it take to become a teacher at a piano studio?
And what skill level do you generally have to be at to teach beginners? Intermediate? Advanced?
What qualifications do piano studios look for? Do you have to have a degree in music, or will they hire simply because you demonstrate that you can play the instrument sufficiently?
I cannot afford to go to an actual school to get a degree in music at this point, but I can afford one of those online music theory certificate programs for a few hundred. Do you think that will help me get a job, or is intermediate playing ability enough to get hired to teach beginners?
More detail about what music teaching institutions look for would be much appreciated! Thank you.
