good site for downloading music?
on: December 16, 2004, 09:14:58 PM
Are there any good sites to download classical music for free?

All I have found it karadar.net

Also, is there any site that has a vid clip of a pianist?  I haven't found one online.  I just want to see a clip of Horowitz, or whomever.

Not sure about free.. maybe some scattered here and there..

don't use "Kazaa" or any of those file swapping applications, for one they are generally illegal, and 2, you are asking to infect your computer with spyware.

I'd recommend a subscription service ($9.95 per month) called Rhapsody from Listen.com

They have something like 100,000 records online. Every classical piece I've ever looked for has been available in multiple versions.

You do need a high-speed internet connection.

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
